Dubai Fountains

Dubai Fountains

Despite the fact that the UAE is famous for its excellent beaches, travelers primarily come to Dubai to see modern attractions, many of which are listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Among the most attractive places for tourists and singing fountains in Dubai near the largest shopping center – Dubai Mall. What they are remarkable for and where it is better to admire a music and dance show, we will tell further in the article.

A spectacular sight at Burj Khalifa

The most spectacular fountain of the Emirates is located in the center of Dubai near the Burj Khalifa skyscraper. It was built on a lake with an area of 120,000 square meters, which can be compared with 12 football fields.

Dubai Fountain is considered one of the largest in the world. The flashes of light that appear during the show are visible within a radius of 30 km. And the jet height sometimes reaches the level of a 50-storey building!

Fountains can “dance” to any work. As a rule, classical compositions and famous hits of pop singers are chosen for the show: songs by Michael Jackson, Adele, Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli and even Alla Pugacheva. To create an incredible sight, more than 6 thousand floodlights work. They are turned on alternately to highlight each beat, or together in a cascade to emphasize the highest notes. The play of light is accompanied by a dance of fountain jets that know how to “jump”, spin around their axis and smoothly lean in different directions.

In 2010, the design was finalized: smoke generators and gas nozzles were connected to it. Due to what, the fountain show in Dubai began to be accompanied by new effects during the presentation. Now, at the peak of a piece of music, along with the take-off of water upward, flashes of fire and a smoke screen are simulated, which adds pomp to what is happening.

You can watch Dubai dancing fountains for free any day. Their work schedule rarely changes: traditionally, the show lasts from 6 to 11 in the evening, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for half an hour longer. There are also daytime shows at one o’clock in the afternoon.

Construction history

The fountain project in Dubai was developed by engineers and architects from WET Design, who also created a similar design in Las Vegas. And more than 200 million dollars for the construction were allocated by the Arab investment organization Emaar. The construction of the landmark began in 2008, and a year later, Dubai’s musical fountains showed the first show, during which the song “Sama Dubai” was played, in honor of Sheikh Mohammed.
